After 8 years, WATA, which was jointly prepared by ablation experts from more than 50 countries around the world, was officially established and officially renamed the World Ablative Therapies Association.

By the resolution of the board of directors of WATA, Professor Yang Renjie of Peking University Cancer Hospital and Professor S. Nahum Goldberg of Hebrew University Medical Center of Hadassah Hospital were awarded the honor of "Honorary Life President of WATA" in gratitude for their indelible contributions to the establishment of WATA.

Professor Xiao Yueyong of the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was appointed as the first president of WATA, and Professor David C. Madoff of Yale Medical School was appointed as president-elect of WATA.
